Welcome…
to a place of healing, growth, transformation and change.
You’ve taken an important step. The very fact that you are here tells me you’re seeking something meaningful—healing, clarity, or a new way forward. These themes run through all of my work, whether in psychotherapy, teaching, retreats, consulting, or writing.
My name is Dr. Susan Davis, a clinical psychologist licensed in California and Hawaii. For more than thirty years, I’ve worked with individuals, couples, and families who want to understand themselves more deeply, heal old wounds, and build healthier, more connected relationships.
I help people navigate many of life’s challenges—loss, anxiety, relationship difficulties, and major transitions, as well as the longing for a more grounded and purposeful life. For those who wish it, I integrate psychology and spirituality in ways that support deeper meaning and wholeness.

Where growth begins.
-
Psychotherapy
I specialize in working with long-term patterns of relationship problems and the depression, anxiety, or trauma that may underlie or result from those patterns. For those who wish it, I have found great power in integrating psychology and spirituality to facilitate healthy change. I also have special experience with intercultural marriages, divorce and stepfamily issues, and sexual, health, and pain concerns.
-
Teaching & Retreats
Over the years, I’ve loved teaching and leading retreats—creating spaces where people could pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most. My work has included graduate-level teaching at Fuller Seminary Northern California, community workshops, and faith-based retreats rooted in both psychology and spirituality.
-
Consultation & Supervision
Recently, I find my interests expanding toward sharing in the training of young psychotherapists as well as consulting with experienced ones. There can be no greater reward, privilege—or fun—than helping helpers find their way forward and deeper in their own counseling relationships. My theoretical bases are psychodynamic and family systems therapy—two approaches that are extremely complementary and rich.

Writing & Resources
Through my book Something Rich and Strange, I explore the ways healing and transformation unfold in psychotherapy, spiritual practice, and in everyday life. The book draws from psychology, faith, and story to illuminate the inner work of becoming whole, and features a foreword by Eugene Peterson, author of The Message.
Let’s grow together.
“If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them.”
— Henry David Thoreau
